If you aren’t familiar with the photographer Clyde Butcher it means one of two things: 1) you aren’t from Florida (we’ll forgive you), or 2) you have seen his work and just don’t know the name. Clyde is one of the most prolific and iconic Nature Photographers alive today and he is even referred to as “Florida’s Ansel Adams”. He has been shooting stunning B&W images of Florida since 1986 and his work is exhibited EVERYWHERE in our Sunshine State. When I was a budding photographer growing up in the suburbs of S FL I would study his lighting and his composition. He literally inspired me to go slogging through the slews of Florida and start taking pictures of Ghost Orchids and other hidden Florida gems. And now I am proud to say that I have been asked to participate in a group exhibition with Clyde at his gallery under the title of “The Secret Life of Plants”. Clyde invited myself and approximately 10 other artists to exhibit with him and I will be exhibiting my award winning Milky Way image “Mother and Child” for one month at the Clyde Butcher Coconut Grove Gallery. The opening is next Thursday; more details to come soon!
